Vol. 2 - January - No. 6
Burlington Northern - Santa Fe Railway Yard
Northeast Minneapolis, MN
January 27, 2002

Minneapolis has some fascinating railroad history. Here's a view looking south, out over the Burlington Northern Yard from the St. Anthony Blvd. bridge in Northeast. It's a quiet, gray and chilly January day, but the view is wonderful and industrial. It's a great reminder of the tremendous amount of shipping that is carried out over a vast network of railways each and every day. Burlington Northern alone operates over 33000 miles of tracks and is the country's largest shipper of grain, aluminum, aircraft parts and beer by rail. The amount of materials moved from point a to point b is mind boggling to be sure. Please enjoy the view and then learn some more about the great history of the Great Northern Railway and its amazing impact on our world today. (req. QuickTime to view)
