Augsburg Pep Band
Instilling Pep into Players and Crowds alike

1930 Augsburg Pep Band

The 1930 Augsburg College pep band was organized in the fall under the leadership of Clarence Hegg, who had earned an enviable record as a cornet soloist during his time at Augsburg. The band played at most of the athletic contests throughout the season. Although handicapped by the small size of the organization and by the lack of facilities, the band put on some rousing programs and instilled much of their pep into the players and the crowds at the games.

The organization of the pep band was a great example of school spirit and loyalty. The founding members, realizing the necessity of a band of some kind, put their nickels and dimes together, purchased music, and organized. The band never claimed to be highly developed musically, but the excitement they created certainly helped Augsburg teams come out of many contests victorious.
